Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with longtime publisher.

David Walliams

Acclaimed writer for children and entertainer David Walliams has been dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK, according to an announcement.

An official for the firm commented: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the conclusion was made after an investigation into allegations of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at women.

The publisher has not elaborated on the motivations for this action, adding: "We refrain from speaking about private personnel issues."

An Illustrious Writing Journey

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, boasting over more than 60 million copies internationally in five dozen languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins back in 2008.

Several of his titles, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as TV movies.

To date, he has released in excess of 40 works combined, encompassing a holiday title named *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss in October.
